Barbara Jean Shipp's Obituary
Honored wife, beloved mother, valuable friend, and resident of San Bernardino, CA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17th 2014 at 70 years of age.
A spiritually devoted woman and servant of the Lord, she was a Sunday school instructor, lector, and catechist in her retirement at Our Lady of Hope Church on Del Rosa Avenue.
She worked as a Certified Medical Assistant at LLUMC for 20 years. Throughout her life she had a profound effect upon those that she met and touched through God’s word. She was indeed a vessel of the Lord here on Earth and had great pride in it. It was her ability to approach people with warmth, sincerity, and spirituality that drew people to her for guidance, generosity, and caring. Even with her primary hobby and gift of Crochet, she created many gifts for those she cared for.
Born in New Orleans, LA, the 2nd daughter of Joseph and Annabelle Auzout. She met her surviving husband of 44 years, Jim, while on a visit to relatives in New Hampshire. It was there they married and would proceed to travel the world as a strong couple by way of Jim’s service in the United States Air Force. She is also survived by her son, James of Denver, CO, her daughter, Bernadette (Andy) Brown of Orange, CA, her 3 grandchildren, Zaveaire Williams, Hailey and Kyra Shipp, and her siblings, Madeline Antoine of Sacramento; Errol (Claudia) Ally of New Orleans and Wanda Ally also of New Orleans. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by us all.
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” –Matthew 5:4
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
