I worked with Arlene for about nine years in Special Ed. I had to go over to her desk to give her paperwork and we would start talking. She would say "You know, pastor said something about that in his sermon on Sunday" and we would get into discussions about the Scripture. I will miss those talks and I want to say "Thanks my friend for making me think. (By the way, you can have all the cheese you want now, from the Father's table.)" I had the pleasure of working, joking, walking, and talking with Arlene for several years in the 90s, when I worked for SBCUSD. I always enjoyed catching up with her when I stopped by the district for a visit. I know how very much you all meant to her. She was a dear heart and a kick, too. I met Arlene many years ago and had the opportunity to work with her as she filled in as our secretary. She was a very lovely and gracious lady. She always had a great smile for you especially if you were feeling low. She would put her arms around you and tell you everything will be ok, take a deep breath. She was very confident in her work assignment and didn't hesitate to help anyone that needed it. I have had a great deal of respect for her, not only because of her work ethics but, because she was a genuine lovely person inside and out. I have worked with Arlene since she started with the school district and she was alway the light in my day. She always had a kind word, and inquiry about my family and a little candy to share. She will be missed but never forgotten.
