ANNE ROOT's Obituary
Anne Root, 79, died June 6, 2006, in Loma Linda, California.Born to parents Stanley and Tillie Michalsky, Grace Anne and her two brothers, Don and Bob, grew up in the small town of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, near the Canadian border. After graduating high school, Grace attended nurses training in 1944 and then moved to Denver to work as a nurse. After a few years in Denver, Anne and two of her nurse friends travelled the country by car, and Anne eventually settled in the California bay area, enjoying the warmer climate and city life. Anne worked as a nurse at the UC San Francisco Medical School hospital where she met her future husband, Irving Root. The two were married on June 19, 1953 and left the following day for Dr. Root’s internship in Hartford, Connecticut. They then lived in Pensacola and Virginia Beach, Florida before eventually returning to San Francisco in 1956. In 1962, the family settled in San Bernardino, California where Anne and Irv raised their four sons, and were both active in the community throughout their lives. Several years after the death of her husband in 1995, Mrs. Root relocated to Redlands in 2000, where she continued to lead a full life with friends and family. Of particular joy to Anne was the time spent with her children and four grandkids, visiting and travelling with her friends, and working in her garden. Mrs. Root is survived by her bother Don Michalsky and his wife Alice of Cokato, MN, and four sons: Peter, wife Nathalie, and daughter Margot of Hadley, MA; Tom, wife Sharon, and son Dillon of Rocklin, CA; Steve, wife Patty, son Conner, daughter Olivia of Los Angeles, CA, and Jon of Los Angeles, CA.
