Anita Melinda Vincent's Obituary
Anita M. Vincent
Anita Melinda Vincent died in Mentone, California January 14, 2018. She was born August 4, 1918, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Marshall Joseph and Anita Pearl Russell. She identified her New England home as East Hartford, Connecticut having graduated high school in 1936 and began working at Travelers Insurance. She married Russell Edward Vincent July 31, 1938 and accepted a career as wife and mother. She often worked part time in school cafeterias and was always helpful to friends and neighbors. Anita was a member of Eastern Star Gate City 212, twice filling the position of Worthy Matron, as well as participating in several social groups. Everywhere she lived, neighbors and those passing by would comment and compliment her on her garden plots and for several years she was the 'garden lady' at her church rummage sale.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell and her brother George A. Russell. She is survived by her sons, Donald G. (Joan) living in Vermont and Robert M. (Mary Ann) living in San Bernardino; four grandchildren; Miriam Vincent of Virginia; Donald Vincent of Colorado; Danielle Vincent Griffith (Kyle) of San Diego; Derek Vincent (Paty) of San Bernardino plus seven great grandchildren, who called her 'Gramma Great'.
