Andree Adaira Disharoon's Obituary
Disharoon, Andree (Andy) A. Beloved and admired by family and friends, Andy passed away peacefully in Orange, CA on April 21, 2012 at the age of 92. Born to Charles Chase and Albertine Cote Goddard in Butte, Montana in 1919, Andy was an adventurous sole. She learned to fly a Piper Cub airplane, becoming Butte’s third woman to fly solo. Andree joined the first group of enlisted WAVES, a branch of the Navy, in 1942 and became a Radioman 3rd Class. While directing traffic in the land plane control tower in Corpus Christi, Texas, she met Lieutenant Second Grade Clarence Murray Disharoon, a Navy pilot and former teacher from Missouri. Four weeks later they were married and remained so for 63 loving yrs.
Moving from Chicago to San Bernardino, CA in 1958 with Murray and children, David, Donna and Dale, she waited until 1964 to begin a stellar career with San Bdno. Co. Beginning in the Probation Dept., she rose to the position of Supervisor of the Legal Division of Juvenile Probation, a position she held until she became Asst. Clerk to the Board of Supervisors. In 1978 Andree became Clerk of the Board and upon her retirement in 1983, a CA Senate Rules Comm. Resolution declared: “Andree has served as Clerk of the Board, where her leadership and conscientious performance of her duties have earned for her the respect and admiration of the members of the Board of Supervisors and of the people of San Bernardino County….”
A world traveler, avid reader, and Bridge playing buddy, Andy continued her service as an active member of the Retired Employees of San Bdno. Co., serving at least two terms as president, until the death of her beloved husband in 2007. She moved to the City of Orange to be near family.
Andree was preceded in death by husband Clarence Murray Disharoon and son Dale DeSharone. She is survived by son David Murray Disharoon and his partner Frank Weber of Frankfurt, Germany; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Bill White of Orange, CA; daughters-in-law Andrea DeSharone of Concord, MA and Diane Disharoon of Lakehurst, NJ; grandchildren Richard Disharoon and wife Meredith of Louisville, TN, Alyssa White of Santa Monica, Jared White of Los Angeles, and Avital and Nadav DeSharone of Concord, MA. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 27 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with funeral service Saturday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m., both held at Bobbitt Mortuary, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA, with interment immediately following at Mt. View Cemetery, 570 E. Highland Ave.
