ALFRED DANIEL HAWKINS's Obituary
Alfred D. Hawkins, 79, went home to be with his Lord March 2, 2009 in Loma Linda, CA. Originally from Louisiana, Alfred served his country in Germany and in France and finally settled in California in 1968. He had a talent for the English language, which he used as a poet, and in his working hours as a court reporter for the Superior Court. He loved the Senior Olympics – you might beat him at horseshoes, but not bowling, billiards or table tennis. He was proud to be the president of the Chaparral Poets. His family, though small, filled his heart. He was preceded in death by Shirley, his loving wife of forty years. Also preceding him are his two sisters Maedell Woods and Bernice Moore. He is survived by his daughter Sandra Maher (Mark), his three grandsons James, Colin and Ian Maher and a host of family and friends. A visitation will be held Sunday March 8 at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92404 from 5 –7 p.m. Followed by a funeral service on Monday March 9, at 11:00 also at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel. Interment will be private in San Francisco.
