Alfred "Freddie" Carranza's Obituary
Alfred “Freddie” Carranza, a resident of Highland, CA, passed away on June 14. Born in San Bernardino, he was a resident of Highland for the past 46 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jennie “Toni” (Guerra) Carranza; daughters Mary O’Callaghan (John) of Ayer, MA, Rebecca T. Lehnerd (Patrick) of Ocean Pines, MD; a son, Ruben F. Carranza (Yvette) of San Bernardino. He leaves five grandchildren; Jotham, Jacinda, Jairus, Brittanee, and Marissa. He was a man of faith, a loving caring father and devoted Husband.
He graduated from San Bernardino High School and attended San Bernardino Valley College. He was employed as a civilian with the U.S. Air Force for 36 years. During his employment, he was involved with Special Project Programs for 28 years at Norton Air Force Base as Supervisor and Inventory Management Specialist.
As a long-time communicant of St. Anne’s Church of San Bernardino and St. Adelaide’s Church of Highland, Mr. Carranza served as Principal of CCD programs, Instructor for Baptism and Confirmation, Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Treasurer of the Parent Teachers Group.
In the greater community, he managed and coached for the Highland Civitan Little League. He was a member of several organizations that include Elks, Knights of Columbus, NARFE, Italian Catholic Federation, and Serra Club of San Bernardino.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernardine’s Church. Interment will be private.
