Dolores Mae Epperheimer

November 15, 1927 - October 28, 2018

Life long San Bernardino resident Dolores Mae Epperheimer passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on 10/28/18 at the age of 90. Dodie was born 11/15/27 in San Bernardino to George and Rita Rayfield. She graduated from San Bernardino High School and Scripps College, and married Bill Epperheimer in 1949. They joyfully welcomed their children Eric, Peter and Wendy. While raising her family, Dodie taught elementary school in the SBUSD for 28 years, and was one of the first teachers to bring the innovations of computer education to her students from the very beginnings of technology in the classroom. She taught at Del Rosa, Parkside, Holy Rosary, Kimbark and Palm. She earned her MA at CSUSB in 1991. In addition to being a mom and a teacher, she was a member of the SB Assistance League, and served as president for both Casa Ninos (Children’s Home Society Auxiliary) and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society (Women in Education). After retiring in 2000, she traveled extensively all over the world, visiting over 110 different places. She spent her 80th birthday touring the Egyptian pyramids! Dodie loved a good book, and adored sharing these with her Book Club friends in lively discussion. You could count on Dodie for a fair review of the latest movie, play or TV drama, many of which she had watched on her iPad after updating her Facebook page. She was a woman before her time! Dodie was predeceased by son Eric, husband Bill and sister Marilyn Talbott. She leaves her adoring daughter Wendy Harkins (Greg), devoted son Peter Epperheimer, grandsons Andrew and Nick (Chelsie), great grandsons Hayden and Brixton, nieces and nephews, and many precious friends. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Susie Gross for her loving and diligent care of Dodie in the last months of her life. Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday December 1 at 1 pm, Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. SB, with a reception to follow at the Arrowhead Country Club, 3433 Parkside Dr. SB. Donations in Dodie’s name can be made to a charity of your choice.
