Date: Wednesday, February 08, 2006 7:00 p.m. Event: Public Grief Seminar: "A Safe Place To Grieve" Details: A free seminar for grievers and their families will be held at the Hilton Hotel, 286 Hospitality Lane in San Bernardino. Dr. Harold Ivan Smith, writer, teacher, counselor, speaker and storyteller will present the seminar. He leads Grief Gatherings, innovative storytelling groups, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. The evening seminar is designed to help grievers and their families find permission to grieve thoroughly. We are often told to "move on" or to "get over it". That's not the way to make the grief journey. Dr. Smith will help you find ways to find safe places to grieve; a safe environment and safe people to grieve with. An author of over 30 books, he has keynoted the National Hospice Organization's Conference on Pastoral Care in San Francisco, the 2004 Perinatal Bereavement Conference and the 2002 King's Conference on Bereavement in Canada. ENFRANCHISING LOSS IN A "TIME WILL ONLY TAKE A MINUTE" WORLD, is the title of his presentation to hospice, end of life and death care professionals, law enforcement, ministers and social workers. He believes one of the consequences to our rapid cultural pace is the dumbing-down of grief.
