My Grief Journey
Ethel Orcutt
My Grief Journey
I believe my strength comes from within me. I can either be strong and go on with my life, or curl up in sorrow and let the world go on without me. Only I can pull myself through it.
It’s like being at the bottom of a well. All my friends and family can toss a rope down to me. But, I have to choose to reach up and grab the rope to be pulled out.
Our grief support group is one of those ropes and by choosing to attend, proves that each of us reached up to grab onto a rope that will help pull us towards a mentally and physically healthy existence.
Yes, we are going to need help to get through our grief. But we must want and accept the help.
I don’t think I want to be completely without grief. My heart was completely torn apart. Now I see it as having some stitches in it. And if I get to the point where there is still a little tear in in . . . that will be okay too.
Ethel Orcutt is a member of our Tuesday night (6:00 p.m.) grief support group.
